News Posted on Wed, March 23, 2016 16:29:42

News Posted on Mon, February 15, 2016 08:35:04

Im nutzenbringenden
Miteinander für SAP HANA-Einsätze – IBM Power8-Server und die
Betriebssystemplattform SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 11 SP4
for SAP Applications.

Sei es bei SAP Suite
on HANA, S/4 HANA, BW on HANA oder anderen SAP HANA-basierten
Lösungen. Auch die Einbindung existierender Anwendungen, etwa
wichtiger System i-Applikationen, kann beispielsweise zusammen mit
der neuen SAP Business Suite S/4 HANA auf Power8/ SLES 11 SP4 for SAP
Applications erfolgen.

Ein aktueller
längerer Fachbeitrag dazu von SUSE in der neuen Februarausgabe von
DV-Dialog
.

Weitere
Informationen erhalten Sie auch im Vortrag von SUSE Linux auf dem
Thementag SAP HANA on Power im International SAP IBM Competence
Center (ISICC) am 10. März 2016 in Walldorf.

New Ratio Core:RAM for HoP available!

News Posted on Thu, December 10, 2015 15:36:27

If E870 or E880 will be used then the following ratio is valid for BW on HANA on Power: 50 GB per Core.
Now SAP BW HANA LPARs of a maximum of 4,8 TB / 96 Cores are supported on E880 and a maximum of 4TB / 80 Cores on E870.
For E850 and S-Models 32GB per core remain valid.
For HANA Clusters, using xfs file system, currently up to 16 nodes with up to 4,8 TB each, in total up to 76,8TB for one HANA database, are supported.
Details please see SAP Note 2188482

Some more details about new HoP functions (SoH, SPS11, ScaleOut etc.)

News Posted on Wed, November 25, 2015 13:15:38

SAP released SAP HANA SPS11 on November, 23rd, 2015 and HANA on POWER is now
part of the HANA Platform Edition.

This means, HANA on POWER is functional
equivalent to the Intel platform – with very few exceptions only. Please check
the following two SAP notes for the latest updates regarding all supported use
cases:

2218464 – Supported products when running SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems

2133369 – SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems: Central Release Note for SPS 09 and SPS 10

The SAP HANA SPS11 release note is now a common release note and shows
that HANA SPS11 is available for IBM Power Systems and Intel based hardware
platforms. It also documents the HANA features and options that are currently
supported on Intel-based hardware platforms only:

2227464 – SAP HANA Platform SPS 11 Release Note

The following list shows a few features and uses cases that were often
asked for and are now available on POWER with HANA SPS11:

·
HANA DB features and options:

·
DataMart

·
Smart Data Access

·
Dynamic Tiering

·
Multitenant Database Containers
(MDC)

·
SLT (System Landscape
Transformation)

·
and others …

·
HANA scale-out (multi-host) support:

·
Up to 16 nodes, 3TB maximum memory size per node
reaching a max HANA BW size of 48 TB. See SAP Note 2188482 to check the latest
status regarding support for larger memory configurations. Exceptions for larger
deployments need to be driven to SAP by the customers.

·
The standard Linux file system for scale-out is XFS.
Hence, a shared disk deployment must be used for scale-out implementations
(contrary to a shared filesystem). See SAP Note 2055470 for updates and
non-production relaxations for the file systems.

·
For SAP Business Warehouse only (same as Intel)

·
The multi LPAR support is also valid for scale-out
deployments.

·
Supported Application Use Cases
SAP note 213369 and 2218464 now state the support for the following SAP
Business Suite products and other applications:

·
SAP EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.3

·
SAP Business Warehouse 7.4

·
SAP ERP 6.0 EHP7

·
SAP CRM 7.0 EHP3

·
SAP SRM 7.0 EHP3

·
SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.1
SP03

·
SAP Business Planning and Consolidation 10.1 (in
controlled availability)

Please note that SAP BusinessObjects and Business Planning and
Consolidation are supported starting with SPS11 only.

Support for other SAP Business Suite modules will follow at a later
date.

The HANA service pack SPS11 can be downloaded immediately from the SAP
Service Market Place. The IBM Planning Guide starting with Version 2.2 is the
first to reflect scale-out requirements: http://www.ibm.com/support/techdocs/atsmastr.nsf/WebIndex/WP102502)

Public SAP communication about this milestone will
appear early December in combination with some further SAP marketing
announcements.
